Am I Enough?

by firestripe Leave a Comment on Am I Enough?

Last week I took my first Honors Greek Exam. I’d like to say that I demolished that test. But in fact, the test demolished me. I had studied all weekend, but it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough to pass the test. It wasn’t enough to say that I know Greek. It wasn’t enough for my […]

The Path of the Righteous

by firestripe Leave a Comment on The Path of the Righteous

What does righteous mean, aside from it being a thing surfers say when something is pretty great? Virtuous maybe? Perfect? A character of God? In the Dictionary of Bible Themes it says that righteous is, “An aspect of God’s nature which expresses his unique moral perfection and his readiness to save sinners. It is made known […]

Stressful Week is Past

by firestripe Leave a Comment on Stressful Week is Past

This last week has been a very stressful week for school. But I’m feeling confident going into this coming week. Last week’s stuff is over and gone and now I can let myself start again. It’s not going to be an easy week, but it’s going to be good! I feel good! I feel positive! […]

Seminary School Update

by firestripe Leave a Comment on Seminary School Update

I’ve been meaning to write about my summer. But the school semester at Dallas Theological Seminary started so quickly after I got back from Death Valley, that I really just haven’t been able to reflect. Now isn’t the time either. School is in full swing. I’m on the campus coffee shop writing this right now, […]

First Sermon

by firestripe Leave a Comment on First Sermon

Today I delivered my first ever sermon. It wasn’t really much. It was short. And my audience was rather small. But that didn’t matter. I enjoyed getting up there and talking through a verse and what it means. As for feedback, I didn’t get much, so I don’t know how it went over with the […]

Me on a sunny day in Winthrop, WA over the summer. . . . Not everything is always sunny. Even on Sunny days, people with a mental illness can have a difficult time. Always check up on your friends. . . . #checkonme #mentalillness #depression #bipolar #mentalhealth #therapy #sunnyday #mentalillnessawareness #sunflower
A storm blew through our part of the world last night. Naturally I got my camera out and snapped some pics. . . . . . #lightning #lightningstrike #texas #storm #stormynight #stormy #stormysky #thunder #thunderandlightning #thunderstorm #lightningbolt
Looking back on this day October 15th in 2011: We went through the forests of Gujarat, India to visit ancient temples. I can’t begin to explain what an experience it was. Out of the trees are these beautiful structures, abandoned for various reasons. It’s amazing to think that people once worshipped here regularly. It was a part of so many people’s lives. Now the temple stands here as an homage to that forgotten time. . . . . . The end of this year indicates the start of 2020. As a countdown to the beginning of the next decade and the end of this one, I’m posting photos of mine between the years 2010 and 2019. #2010decadeproject . . . . . . #templeruins #ancienttemple #indiantemple #hindutemple #stupa #gujarat #gujaratitemple #india #greatindia #bharat #getoutstayout #explore #exploration #travel #internationaltravel #travellife #travellifestyle #2011 #decadeproject #indianadventure #travelindia #india
October 23, 2009. Ecola State Park. Continuing with my Decade Project (which was on hiatus for the summer), about 10 years ago I visited The PNW for the first time. I pretty much fell in love. I had gone to Portland for the Geology Society of America (GSA) annual conference as a certified geologist. After the conference I went off on my own to explore Oregon. Ah such beautiful memories! I don’t know if I’ll ever leave Texas forever, but I know where I’ll go if I must. . . . . . #gsa #gsa2009 #geology #ecolastatepark #oregon #canonbeach #portland #pnw #pnwonderland #october #autumn #fall #fallvibes #beach #pacificnorthwest #westcoast #islands #hightide #decadeproject #getoutstayout
Somewhere in the North Cascades looking from Slate Creek. I imagine that this place is substantially covered in snow now. I took this photo in June. Death Valley y’all. What a place. I’m not there right now, but it’s on my mind. I take it back. It’s not on my mind. Washington is still on my mind. Thoughts aren’t exactly happening right now. I just wanted to share a picture! Alright? There! Enjoy! :) . . . . . #deathvalleynationalpark #deathvalley #mesquite #mesquiteflatsanddunes #sanddunes #nationalpark #explore #toohot #deathvalleyishot #california #californiadesert #outdoorphotography @deathvalleynps @nationalparkservice
