“When I see a movie I never think about how God might be active in the story. Going to Sundance with DTS challenged me to do just that.”

The Path of the Righteous: A Devotional

by firestripe Leave a Comment on The Path of the Righteous: A Devotional

Walk into my office and you feel like you’ve entered the aftermath of a tornado. Nine bookcases haphazardly line the walls of my office: each with stacks and piles of read and unread books strewn on their shelves. Three tables crammed into the space hosts more books, the computer and associated monitor, speakers, a printer, […]

Christian Theology: Trinitarianism

by firestripe Leave a Comment on Christian Theology: Trinitarianism

To better understand the Trinity, myself and my guides dove into three questions: 1) What is the Trinity? 2) How does it shape your life? and, 3) How would you explain it to someone else? The guides spoke into characteristics that define the Christian Trinitarian God. Their explanation for others involved understanding the person they’re […]

A long time ago we used to shoot on film. I got my first SLR sometime in the 2000’s. It was a Canon Rebel, back when Rebels did 35mm. Photography had always been a passion of mine but I had only ever used point and shoot cameras. Or most of the time I used disposable cameras because you could get the photos developed for free. So here i was on my first big trip after getting the Rebel. We went to Big Bend National Park for Spring Break 2004. What a time. Here’s the Chisos Mountains caught on film and the little park village down below.
Pacific Rim National Park on Victoria Island, Canada with my dad. This was one of our first days out camping and hiking. We didn’t actually hike that much because my dad’s Parkinson’s doesn’t allow him to walk much. But I remember this little spot and how blown away I was by its beauty. My dad made it to this spot ark least. He loved it too. He and I like to reminisce about that trip every once in a while. It was one of those things you’ll never forget.
I’m lovin the water and wishing I could be there right now! This is from a trip to Brazil several years ago. A storm was rolling through and the waters started getting rough. We had to get back to shore ASAP. That was a fun adventure!
Just a couple of Outward Bound students paddling along in the San Juan Islands. This year I’ll get to hang out with students doing some white water rafting. That will be a whole new experience for me!
Two years ago in the San Juan Islands. I took this while hanging out in a kayak on the sea. What a great time hanging out with Outward Bound students as a field correspondent! Can’t wait to be back up there this summer!
Oh you know, just the moon from a couple of weeks ago. In just a couple of months I’ll be on my way to Oregon and I just can’t wait. I have so much to do in the mean time though. It feels like too little time to get it all done! It’ll happen I’m sure.
